Nascar Highlights 10 Amazing Drivers Who Won 4 Races at Start of Season
NASCAR is the place for man to test his mettle in metal, but did you know only 10 drivers have managed to win 4 races in the first 11 of a season? In fact it's only happened 18 times, ever, which makes it even more impressive that there's only 10 people to have done it.
Richard Petty, for example, won at Riverside, Richmond, North Wilkesboro, and Martinsville in 1972, earning him one of the earliest spots in the ranks. He went on to win the title that season then went ahead and did the whole thing over again in 1974 including, again, winning the title; then did it one more time in 1975, probably just for kicks.
Cale Yarborough managed this feat more than once as well, winning his final set of 5 wins of 11 in the 1977 season. He too went on to take the title that year.
What an impressive feat to place so well so often in such a competitive sport. In fact, until just this year, it hadn't happened since 2007. Kevin Harvick finally restored the streak by winning at Atlanta, Vegas, Phoenix, and Dover. Impressive.
